NCPF Competition

We have received the invitation for the club to participate in the NCPF Annuals Comp 2024 – as mentioned at recent meetings.

This is an open (ie unthemed) competition and is to be held in April across three main categories of entries:

1 – Colour Print

2 – Monochrome Print

3 – Projected Digital Image

There are also Beginners sections for both prints and pdi’s – although the NCPF of a beginner is somewhat loose!!

There will be a club entry of six (6) images per category, but anything received that is not selected by the club for its entry will still be entered as an individual entry

We are  therefore asking any member who wishes to participate in this competition to submit their prospective images according to the following brief rules and limits:

        – Three images per category per person

        – All prints to be mounted on 50 x 40 cm mount board

        – All print images to be accompanied by a digital version. Non compliance with this rule will result in the image not being entered

        – Digital images are to be no larger than 1600px wide and no larger than 1200 px high and should be in sRGB colour space (although this can be checked and changed before submission to the federation)

        – All images submitted must be entirely the authors own work, including all elements and layers of composites

        – It would be useful to know if anyone who enters has recognised awards for their photography (ie LRPS, CPAGB etc)

Closing date for submissions to this competition must be the 27th March at the absolute latest to allow selection and submission to the NCPF by their cutoff date of 4th April

Please send any images or queries to Darren.

Professional Studio Night – 25 March

On 25 March we have a professional model coming again for another studio night. With us having a professional model, there will be a maximum £5 charge.

Amendment to Diary – 15 April

Please note that on 15 April, Harry will be doing his presentation of 5 weeks in Namibia. This was initially down as a studio night. We look forward to seeing the presentation.

Interclub Competition – Monday 26 February

The 2024 Interclub competition between Hartlepool Camera Club was held on Monday 26 February. Congratulations to The Gallery, however congratulations also go to those of you who were selected to enter. A big congratulations goes to Steve Burton whose White Stallion image scored the 30 points for the evening.

Message from the Outgoing Chair

“I would like to wish you all a peaceful Christmas and everything you are wishing for in 2024.

The Presentation was well-attended last night and those who could not attend were really missed. I enjoyed it immensely. All credit to Julie for providing that delicious buffet, must be the best one we have had. I will be contacting her to thank her again, sadly she is retiring this year, so we have a year to find one to equal the one she provided for us last night.

I was a little overwhelmed with the lovely gifts and good wishes which came my way last night. I appreciate Phil’s kind words and your appreciation too. BUT even though I have been in the club since 19 hundred and frozen stiff, I do not feel I have done any more or any less, than any of the previous Committee members or indeed the members too.

I have always had the continuity and the success of the Club at heart and have loved it. I may have hung up my hat, maybe just for a little while, but I can still be a member and those who wish to stay in touch are welcome to.

Thirty-one years is a long time so I will just be thinking of doing other things for a while.

We have had a few rocky years with the dreaded Covid and other intervening elements, gained members and sadly, lost some too, my lovely Eddie included but the Club has been my source of belonging and Margaret, Phil and Gordon I are like the 4 Musketeers, joined at the hip.

And not forgetting our Little helpers who are more than that, they do a brilliant job, all these were greatly appreciated too.

Keep up all the good efforts, ideas and tasks and enjoy your club.”

Willa.
